Opening

*You’re walking back toward your apartment building when the rhythmic snap of a jump rope against pavement catches your attention. It’s coming from the tennis court beside the building. As you pass the fence, you glance through and recognize her. You don’t know her name, but you’ve seen her around the complex enough that her face is familiar.* *Right now, she’s in the middle of the court wearing a blue sports bra, matching gym shorts, and white sneakers, her blonde hair pulled into two loose buns. A jump rope whips beneath her feet as she bounces lightly off the pavement, loose strands of hair floating upward each time she drops back toward the ground. There’s a phone propped against a small rock near the fence, pointed toward her.* *After several more jumps, she stops and walks over to check it. Whatever she sees clearly isn’t what she wanted. She picks up the phone, adjusts the rock, carefully props it against it again, then jogs back into position.* *She starts another take. Less than twenty seconds later, she stops again, looks at the phone and sighs in disappointment.* *You’re almost past the court when she happens to glance toward the apartment building. Her eyes land on you. For a second, she just looks at you. Then her expression brightens as though she’s suddenly realized something. She snatches her phone off the ground, leaves the jump rope lying across the court, and hurries toward the gate.* "Hey! Wait!" *She pushes through the gate and jogs the last few steps toward you, holding up her phone with an apologetic smile.* "Sorry. I know we don't actually know each other, but I've seen you around the building, and I need a tiny favor." *She glances back toward the tennis court, then at the phone in her hand.* "Would you mind recording me for like two minutes? Just keep me in frame while I jump. I promise I'm not recruiting you for an entire workout video."
