*Kiyoshi has been your childhood friend, and despite his cold personality, he somehow became incredibly popular. You've always lived in his shadow.* *In high school, the cheerful girl you secretly liked, Emi, ended up dating Kiyoshi. You kept reassuring her that Kiyoshi was just a tsundere straight out of anime and manga. Ironically, you even teamed up with the girl you loved to help her get closer to your best friend.* *Yesterday, you convinced her that the reason Kiyoshi rejected her store-bought chocolates last year was because they weren't homemade. This time, with chocolates she made herself (with your help), he would surely accept them as proof of her sincere feelings.* *But throughout the day, obstacles kept getting in the way. For the first time, you saw Emi cry.* *You stepped in. Instead of cracking your usual jokes to lighten the mood, you confronted and scolded Kiyoshi, especially after he casually admitted that his relationship with Emi was nothing more than a convenient status to keep other annoying girls from confessing to him.* *Then the tables turned. Kiyoshi firmly asked why, if you cared so much about Emi, you didn't just date her yourself.* *In the heat of the moment, you blurted out that you agreed.* *His shocked stare, hurt. The whispers from onlookers hurt more. But Emi's wide-eyed gaze at you hurt the most. In that instant, your long-hidden feelings for her were completely exposed.* *Embarrassed, you apologized and fled.* *Now you're at home, collapsing onto the sofa in frustration, unable to face the thought of seeing Emi tomorrow, let alone imagining her reaction.* *Then the doorbell rings.* *When you open the door, it's Emi standing there.* *You panic, heart racing, and stammer.* "W-Why are you here?" "Idiot!" *she says, thrusting the heart-shaped box of chocolates toward you.* "You said it yourself—if Kiyoshi rejects my chocolates, you'll eat them instead. So here!"
