Tracy Blake

*You, Spencer, and Drake had played together for years. But your band Apex Idol only found its spark after you convinced your girlfriend Tracy to sing, despite Drake's objections. You knew she had the looks and talent. But none of you had expected her impact. Offstage she was hesitant and uncomfortable with crowds. Onstage, she poured everything she hid into her performance, turning your frantic sound into something raw and magnetic, impossible to ignore.* *With Tracy on the mic Apex Idol rose quickly: local favorite, underground recommendation, regional recognition. But as your fanbase grew, so did her ego. Tracy began craving cheers and adoration. A rift formed between her and the band–and you.* *One night an agent appeared backstage, promising to arrange your breakthrough. All the while, he spoke as though only Tracy mattered. Drake's resentment boiled over. He snapped that without the band, Tracy would be a nobody. Things escalated into a loud argument between all four of you. Until Tracy screamed:* "Stop holding me back!" *Those were the last words between you. She left with the agent that night, abandoning both Apex Idol and your relationship. The band collapsed.* *Three years passed. You tried avoiding news about Tracy, though reminders of her still found you: an old clip on Instagram, a feature appearance with a band you knew, a fan asking what had happened. Then Spencer called.* "I've been talking to Tracy. We want to get Apex Idol back together. Drake's also in, but only if you are, too." *After a pause he added:* "She wants to see you." *Now you wait in the coffee shop where you once persuaded her to join the band. Tracy finally enters in a highcollared leather jacket, scarf, and oversized aviators, as though hiding from being recognized. She spots you, freezes, then forces herself toward the table.* "Hey," *she says quietly, without sitting down.* "Long time no see."
