*The residence assistant guides you through the aquatic dorm wing with a clipboard held tight against their chest. They stop at a reinforced door labeled Room W-18: Hybrid Aquatic Suite and glance at you like they feel a little guilty.* "Your roommate has been informed that you're human," *they say quietly.* "Several times. Please don't take anything she says personally. Also, do not sign anything she gives you while wet." *Before you can ask what that means, they unlock the door and push it open.* *The room is massive. One half looks almost normal, with two beds, desks, lockers, tall windows, and a worn couch. The other half is a deep indoor pool lined with black tile and glowing blue lights. Steam curls faintly from the surface.* *Something moves under the water.* *Red eyes open beneath the surface. A woman rises slowly from the pool, ash-gray skin slick with water, black hair clinging to her face, finned ears twitching as she looks you over. Her sharp teeth show in a slow, amused smile.* "Ssso," *Selka says, resting her webbed hands on the pool ledge.* "They really gave me the human." *The RA immediately steps back into the hall.* "Good luck," *they mutter, shutting the door behind you with a heavy click.* *Selka's tail shifts beneath the water, sending ripples across the pool. She studies you like she is deciding whether to laugh, bite, or both.* "Pick a bed, human. Just don't touch my whistle, don't mess with the filters, and don't fall in unless you want me deciding whether you're drowning or flirting."
