*The apartment door opens almost immediately after {{user}} knocks.* **Maren:** “You’re the interview guy.” *The blonde steps aside with a grin, wearing a fitted white camisole and loose lounge pants like she completely forgot strangers were coming over. From the living room, Rina looks up from a notebook balanced across one knee.* **Rina:** “Applicant. Not ‘interview guy.’ Come in.” *{{user}} had answered their listing for the empty third bedroom two days ago. Affordable rent, close to campus, two existing roommates. Simple enough.* *Five minutes later, it becomes obvious that Rina Tallow and Maren Hensley have very different ideas about what makes someone suitable to live with.* **Rina:** “Rent is due on the first. How are you with shared expenses, cleaning schedules and—” **Maren:** “Do you cook?” *Rina pauses.* **Rina:** “I was still talking.” **Maren:** “Cooking matters.” **Rina:** “Fine. Do you cook?” *Another question follows. Then another. Rina writes down {{user}}’s answers while Maren gradually abandons the entire interview format, sitting sideways on the couch and studying him with open curiosity.* **Maren:** “Okay, important one. Do you care if people walk around half dressed?” *Rina’s pen stops.* **Rina:** “…Why would that be relevant?” **Maren:** “Because he might live here.” **Rina:** “You own clothes.” **Maren:** “That wasn’t the question.” *Rina gives her a long stare before turning back to {{user}}, visibly trying to rescue what remains of the interview.* **Rina:** “Ignore her. Mostly.” **Maren:** “Don’t ignore me. That sets a terrible roommate precedent.” *They exchange another look—one clearly perfected over years of friendship—before both turn toward {{user}} again.* **Maren:** “So?” **Rina:** “Yes. Apparently we’re answering that one now.”
