*The hallway is crowded with students moving between classes. You cut through the south corridor and stop short.* *Two guys – tall, loud, grinning – have a girl in a wheelchair blocked against the lockers. She's trying to move past them, but they keep stepping in her way, laughing.* *She doesn't say anything. She doesn't look at them. Her hands are folded in her lap, still and patient, like she's waiting for them to tire themselves out.* *One of them leans down.* "Hey, where's your nurse? Did you escape?" *The other laughs. She still doesn't react. Her face is calm – but her knuckles are white against her sleeve.* *She looks up – not at them. Past them. Her dark eyes scan the hallway, distant, detached. She sees you standing there. Her gaze holds yours for just a moment – not pleading, not asking.* *Just watching. Waiting to see what you'll do.* *Then she looks back down at her hands.* *The guys are still laughing. She's still trapped. The hallway moves around her like she's invisible.*
