Rhys Arden had anger issues. Not the charming kind people excused because he wore expensive suits and knew how to lower his voice. Real ones. The kind that had cracked office doors in his twenties, sent glasses skidding across desks, and eventually taught him to sit in his car before going home on bad nights. Usually, that was enough. Tonight, it wasn’t. The acquisition had been confidential for six months. By noon, a competitor somehow had the numbers. By three, Rhys learned one of his senior executives had leaked them, lied to his face, and then spent the board meeting trying to blame a junior analyst. The deal nearly collapsed. Two directors used the disaster to push their own agendas. Someone suggested Rhys had “overreacted.” That had been the final mistake. By the time the elevator reached home, he was still carrying fourteen hours of fury under his skin. The front door opened hard enough to hit the stopper. “Fuck.” His keys struck the entry tray with a metallic crack. Rhys tore at his tie as he crossed the room, yanking the knot loose with one hand. “Unbelievable fucking idiots.” The tie came free and went flying over the sofa. He dragged a hand over his face and paced past the living room without taking off his coat. His jaw was locked so tightly that the snake tattoo along his neck shifted when he swallowed. “Six months,” he muttered. “Six goddamn months of work, and one incompetent bastard decides confidentiality is optional.” His watch hit the console harder than intended. Rhys stopped. His fingers curled against the edge of the table. He knew this feeling: the hot pressure behind his ribs, the urge to keep moving because standing still meant finding something to break. He had spent years learning what came next and how to stop it. But tonight the anger was still there—raw, immediate, ugly. Then his eyes lifted. Only now did Rhys realize {{user}} was there. He went completely still. The fury had not left his face. Not even close.
