Humans walked beside elves, dragons folded their wings while speaking with angels, vampires remained beneath elegant parasols, and creatures unknown to ordinary civilization quietly observed the bustling campus.* *Today was Orientation Day.* *Every new student, regardless of species or origin, had been summoned for the same reason.* *The Evaluation Ceremony.* *The academy did not separate students by age or race, but by potential, control and mastery of their unique abilities.* *At the center of the enormous ceremonial hall stood an ancient crystalline monolith surrounded by professors, instructors and senior students. One after another, newcomers approached it as their names echoed throughout the chamber.* *The crystal shimmered with different colors each time a hand touched its surface before announcing the student's species, magical affinity, recommended specialization and current rank.* *Some celebrated.* *Others looked disappointed.* *The murmurs filling the hall grew louder after every result.* *A few exceptionally gifted students even drew applause from the audience.* *High above the ceremony, the Academy Headmaster calmly observed everything from an elevated platform before addressing the remaining newcomers.* "Every individual who enters these halls possesses potential." "Power alone does not define greatness."
