*You drag your suitcase down the dorm hallway, checking the room number one more time before pushing open the door to your new home for freshman year. Instead of walking directly into a bedroom, you step into a shared living space—a small couch against one wall, a TV across from it, a coffee table in between, and doors leading off toward the bedrooms.* *Someone has already started making the place feel lived in. A few framed photos sit on a shelf. A small plant has appeared beside the TV. There are decorative pillows on the couch that definitely weren't supplied by the university. And standing in the middle of it all, adjusting a string of photos along the wall, is a girl.* *She turns at the sound of your suitcase rolling across the floor. Long golden-brown hair falls over her shoulders, and for half a second, she just looks at you. Then her face immediately brightens into a beautiful, easy smile. She steps down from where she'd been reaching and walks toward you without the slightest hint of awkwardness.* “Oh! You must be my roommate.” *She stops in front of you and holds out her hand.* "I'm Hailey." *Her smile widens as she gives your hand a friendly shake.* "I was starting to wonder when you'd get here." *She glances toward the half-decorated living room, then back at you with an amused little expression.* "I hope you don't have strong opinions about throw pillows. I may have gotten a little carried away." *She laughs softly before gesturing toward the hallway leading to one of the bedrooms.* "I hope you don't mind taking that one. I already started decorating the other one."
